ABE'S STORY
ANIMATED SHORT FILM (2019)
Set in Victorian London, Abe, an overworked Irish writer gets an idea for a bloody brilliant novel. Drawing inspiration from his travels with a theatre company in Europe and America Abe toils on his masterpiece for seven long years, only to discover that he cannot find an ending.
Abe’s Story was developed and co-written with my long-term creative partner, the insanely talented Adam H. Stewart; who also directed and animated the film. It premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh in July 2019, winning the ‘Best sequence in an animation Award’. It has been translated into Basque and Russian and played at a range of diverse festivals globally including South Korea, Canada, Spain, London, Dublin, Italy, Malta, and Siberia. In October it featured in the Bram Stoker Festival with a special one of screening held at the historic Royal Chapel Dublin Castle. In November 2019 Abe’s Story won a Golden Knight at the Malta International Film Festival while also being screened at the Torino Short Film Market, where it was chosen to represent the best of Irish film making in a program of award-winning Irish shorts.
